Moral Disengagement Theory

Moral Disengagement Theory, developed by Albert Bandura, examines how individuals justify unethical behavior through cognitive mechanisms that undermine moral standards. By rationalizing actions based on context or comparison, people disengage from their internal morality, causing cognitive dissonance and enabling them to act contrary to their ethical beliefs without guilt or remorse.
